St.Clair Westerly Police Department DATE: October 14, 2011 SUBJECT: BICYCLIST ACCIDENT Last evening at 5:20PM, Westerly Police responded to the intersection of Route 78 and Route 1 for a report of a bicyclist struck by a motor vehicle. Officers arrived and found a 16 year old male bicyclist, near the on-ramp to Route 78 west, with serious leg injuries. The vehicle, operated by Kyle Wheeler, 21 years old of Bradford, was stopped on Route 78 west. The operator of the vehicle reported no injuries. The juvenile bicyclist was transported to Hasbro Children's Hospital by ambulance. He is listed in fair condition. No charges have been filed at this time. The accident is under investigation by the Westerly Police Department's accident reconstruction team.
